Biography

I was born in 1977 in Malatya, Türkiye. I completed my primary, secondary, and high school education in Malatya. In 2004, I graduated from the Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. In 2007, I returned to Malatya and completed my residency training in General Surgery in 2014 at the İnönü University Faculty of Medicine Department of General Surgery.

Since 2015, I have been working as a faculty member at the İnönü University Faculty of Medicine Department of General Surgery and the İnönü University Liver Transplant Institute.

I have had an interest in nature and wildlife photography since childhood. I received my first photography training at the Photography Club of Hacettepe University. Although there was a period when I could not actively pursue photography, I returned to it in 2007 after purchasing my first DSLR camera, a Nikon D40.

Initially, I photographed butterflies and flowers. Later, after acquiring a 70–300 mm lens, I began photographing birds. Since then, I have continued bird photography whenever I have had the opportunity.

Most of my bird photographs have been taken in Malatya. Malatya is one of the provinces in Türkiye with rich bird diversity. To date, approximately 300 different bird species have been recorded in the region. It is possible to observe and photograph species considered relatively rare in Türkiye—such as the Barred Warbler, Ortolan Bunting, Lesser Grey Shrike, Common Redstart, and Rose-breasted species of warblers—in Malatya.

Bird photography requires not only technical knowledge but also patience and a deep love of nature. In addition to basic photography skills, it often requires specialized equipment such as telephoto lenses, camouflage covers, and camouflage hides. At times, you may need to remain silently inside a camouflage hide for hours.

However, when you finally manage to capture a good photograph after all that waiting, you forget all the fatigue.

In truth, photography is just an excuse—being in nature is the real joy.

Natural habitats are increasingly being destroyed by human activity, leaving wildlife with very limited living spaces. It may sound like a cliché, but it is true: the more you know something, the more you love it—and the more you love it, the more you want to protect it.

I hope that the bird photographs I have taken will help people learn more about birds and nature, and contribute to raising awareness about their conservation.
