Biography
Studied Faculty of Journalism and Communication. Worked with several leading newspapers and magazines as a correspondent, editor, photo-journalist. Invited to show at many exhibitions including four exclusives. Winner of several photographic prizes.Born in Ankara, Turkey. First became interested in photography through studying light reflection in school physics lessons. A fascination with light and its projection developed.Received a bursary to study at the prestigious Faculty of Journalism and Communication, Ankara University.Began working as a print journalist during first year at university and continued to do so until graduation in 1989. In 1988, made the switch to photo-journalism in order to fulfill a lifelong ambition. Directed the photography on an 18 part documentary series “Old Houses, Old Masters” for TV. This project generated a passion for story-telling through stills.A period of contract employment with several leading newspapers and magazines followed and a plethora of images were captured. A tendency to see past the obvious and into the fabric of images became the signature of the work produced.Freelance work beckoned and the luxury of selecting projects and clients from a vast array of recognized publications continues.Other selected achievements include working for UNICEF on the post-1999 Earthquake Documentation Project. Travelling widely on various international projects. Invited to show at many exhibitions including four exclusives. Winner of several photographic prizes both in Turkey and internationally.
