Herman has been starting photography since 1940. He likes Landscape and Human Interest. 

Before he retired, he was a journalist for 15 years and had documented many important events and had took pictures of many important events in Indonesia. He has also opportunities to document very important person such as the First Indonesia President Soekarno, the Current Indonesia President Joko Widodo, Former President USA, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Former Prime Minister Japan, Shinzo Abe many more.

Herman has earned QPSA distinctions from Photographic Society of America
