Born in Tokat at 1958… She has got her primary and secondary education in Ankara. She graduated from the Department of Astronomy-Mathematics of Ankara University and then from Open Education Faculty of Department of Business Administration  from Anadolu University. She was familier first time with  photography in 1984 the basic training courses of AFSAD… AFSAD is an important milestone her photography.  She has described her passion for photography is my hobby has been my profession, my profession has been my hoby.

Her first period works was mainly black and white… In 1987, She started to work as a photo journalist in Tempo magazine. With her photo interviews have been published during in the Tempo years… Her name started to become known both as a journalist and as a photographer. In the same period, her  photographs were published in other journals, especially ATLAS, one of the fames magazine of Hürriyet Magazine Group. 

She has  won ŞİNASİ BARUTÇU KUPASI what is best prestigious award in photorapy in 1991.

At the same time, Gülümser İşçelebi has been a special interest for dance photography. Her ballet photographes have shooted in Ankara State Opera and Ballet for many years… Her ballet photography book, UÇARCASINA was published by the Turkish Ministry of Culture in 1993.

She opened an exhibition of the photograps of The Ballet and Opera Festival of ASPENDOS in Ankara in 1995

Gülümser İşçelebi has participated in group exhibitions and won awards in many competitions. 

During the foundation of RADİKAL gazetesi, she moved to Istanbul. Until 1996, she continued to work as a press photographer with the tempo of daily newspaper.  

Beside her journalism, she realized many special projects. . She retired from Press in 1999, but still continues to work on photography.
