Born in 1958, he is an ITU Mathematics Engineer.

Since 2002, he has been working as a professional photographer and trainer.

Documentary photography, in particular; he is interested in photography with the theme of life and nature. Ali İhsan Gökçen, who is interested in culture as well as photography, has many books and articles with documentary content as well as photography books.

He worked as a freelance photographer for many years in magazines such as National Geographic and Atlas, and his interviews were published.

He served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of IFSAK during 1995-1997 and is an Honorary Member of IFSAK. He is a founder member of the Turkish Photographic Art Federation.

He is the owner of the Şinasi Barutçu Cup.

Since 2006, he has been teaching basic photography and nature photography at the Faculty of Forestry of Istanbul University.
